Yes, you read that right. Bracken visited the Barnes & Noble in Fairfax, Virginia, and boy was it a hit. There were so many people who came that I, the second to last person in line, left just shy of 11 PM when the store closed, and she had started the Q&A at 7 PM and the signing at 8:15 PM. Albeit, some of that time was from the store not being prepared for such a large turnout--I overheard B&N employees talking about how they had not been ready for more than a handful of people to show and instead they got at least sixty people.
Bracken during the Q&A. It was wonderful that she spent over an hour answering questions. At first I thought the lack of a reading a downer, but getting to know her as a writer and as a person was rewarding. SHE'S JUST ANOTHER HUMAN. By far one of the best authors to have a conversation with one on one.
Wearing heels and having had a long day at work, there was no way I was standing in the line. I took an opportunity to snap a few pictures as I waited, then I parked my bottom back into a seat. To get through all those people, since Bracken really likes to get to know her readers as she signs, took about two and a half hours. It was well worth it though.
Coming to this event, I did have one request of Bracken. I will be seeing her at Apollycon 2016 in Savannah, Georgia, and some of my friends will be there. One friend in particular adores Bracken, and she is the friend who convinced me to read the series. I had a little bit of a surprise for her.
And Emily did, in fact, love the surprise and will be fangirling all over again when meeting Bracken for the second time. (The first was at Apollycon 2015 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.)
The event was awesome. Alexandra Bracken's books are awesome. She is awesome. Read her books and you will be wonderfully content with the complexity of her characters and plot. I will review her books on here one day, but for now you will have to accept that I am reviewing her as an author I met in person twice and soon for a third time.

I promise you. More Bracken will be coming to this blog after Apollycon 2016. It'll be even more fantabulous.
